Dr. Stephen Wickes, prominent physician and local historian of Orange, N.J. (Essex County). As Standing Committee chairman and president of the Medical Society of New Jersey, he rescued and preserved the Society's earliest papers. Wickes is also the author of "History of Medicine in New Jersey and of its Medical Men from the Settlement of the Province to A.D. 1800" (1879).
